Lab Chemist

Salary: £24,000-£26,000 per annum

Location: Sneyd Hill – ST6 2DZ

Hours of work: 40 hours per week, 8am-5pm

The Lab Chemist will bring value to the business by ensuring the correct procedures are followed when testing pre-acceptance, acceptance, productions and compliance samples.

Key Duties:

  • Conduct the analysis of pre-acceptance, acceptance, production and compliance samples within the required timeframes.
  • To prepare and analyse external samples occasionally within the required timeframes.
  • To accurately record and input data into the SAP system.
  • To record data in other formats within the company management system.
  • To request and report data.
  • To complete pre-use checks and calibrations of equipment.
  • To maintain sample storage in a safe manner.
  • To safely dispose of samples through on-site processes
  • Provide technical support to other members of staff on site.
  • To maintain a clean and tidy work area completing housekeeping as required and ensuring relevant COSHH assessments are followed.
  • To assist other teams.
  • To perform other duties as reasonably required by the business

Key requirements:

  • HNC or Degree Level Qualification in Chemistry or a similar related field.
  • Experience of the Waste Industry is desirable.
  • SAP experience is desirable.
  • Competent Microsoft Office user, in particular Excel.
  • Communicates well at all levels including executive level.
  • Makes decisions based on data, information and evidence.
  • Able to drive team performance and improve functional knowledge of the team through coaching and sharing knowledge/skills and experiences.
