From the 1st January 2015 certain provisions contained in the Waste (England & Wales) Regulations 2011 came into force. These regulations are part of an on-going legislative drive to prioritise the recovery, rather than landfilling, of Waste Materials. The regulations specifically require that waste paper, metals, plastics and glasses be collected separately and not comingled with other wastes that make them unrecyclable. By this time all waste collection authorities should have implemented the regulations however full guidance on the provisions can be found at www.gov.uk/waste-legislation-and-regulations
It has been a tradition for the past few years for all the staff at Red Industries to engage in various personal challenges in order to raise funds for local children's hospice, the Donna Louise Trust. These challenges have developed over the years and the various athletes at Red have progressed from bike rides and 5k runs, through to 10K runs and triathlons; however this year we saw three individuals sign up for their biggest challenge to date, an Ironman event. Chief Executive Adam Share and Project Manager Darren Haywood committed to participating in the Challenge Roth Ironman, whilst Site manager Gavin Stephens [...]
Prosecution collapsed completely. Since October 2009, waste management company, Red Industries Ltd has endured not only a misconceived but also a thoroughly aggressive prosecution by the Environment Agency over allegations of water pollution and not acting in accordance to the conditions of its site licence. Whilst respecting the right and duty of the Environment Agency to investigate the pollution incident and therefore co-operating at all times with the Environment Agency, Red strove to make the point which was always apparent from the facts: the Environment Agency was looking at the wrong person. Unfortunately the Environment Agency simply would not listen. [...]
Congratulations to our Red Industries Ironmen, Adam Share and Daz Haywood, for completing the Outlaw Half on Sunday 1st June. The event consisted of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run and was seen by both as a warm up for their upcoming Ironman event, Challenge Roth. Adam crossed the finish line after 5 hrs and 16 minutes placing 248th out of 1106 competitors and Daz followed at 5 hrs and 46 minutes, placing 534th. If you think those distances were staggering, they are only half of what they will be completing at [...]
What we are fundraising for: As committed supporters of the Donna Louise Trust and the outstanding work they do, we know exactly how well our sponsorship money is used by them; however we realise that a number of you who sponsor us may not be so sure of what the Trust actually do. Every penny we raise through our various fundraising events including the Roth Ironman on 20th July 2014, the Zurich Ironman on 27th July 2014, the Charity match between Red Industries & Newcastle Town FC on 13th July 2014 and the monthly staff BBQ's will go towards [...]
With Christmas over and the New Year off to a good start it's time to think about how we can make a difference in 2014. We have been enthusiastic supporters of The Donna Louise Trust for a number of years now and each year we challenge ourselves to raise more funds than we did in the previous year. The Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust provides end of life care & bereavement support to children with life-limiting conditions & their families. The time these children have really is precious and the Trust works hard to create a warm and caring environment [...]
The Red Industries football team took part in the Sellick Partnership charity football tournament, held at Powerleague in Stoke on 27th September. The tournament is held annually to raise funds for the local Douglas Macmillan Hospice; this year an amazing £1,500.00 was raised for the charity. Our team was unfortunately knocked out in the 2nd round, losing on penalties. The team should be proud of their achievement scoring 10 goals in 4 games is impressive to say the least. Everyone at RED wanted to say congratulations to the team, made up of: Simon Anderson, Dan Knight, Sid Bromley, Shane Peel, Andrew Brodie, Joe [...]
Supporting the Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust started as a charity of the year commitment in 2011 however, the work done by the Trust is so valuable that we as a company are committed to supporting this fantastic charity. Supporting the trust has injected so much value back into our company, as well as the lives of our employees, that we decided to make a firm commitment and adopt them as our official charity. Here at Red Industries we believe in making a real contribution to charity, especially a charity like the Donna Louise that offers such wonderful care and support [...]
On Sunday 14th July 2013 the Red Industries football team beat Newcastle Town FC 4-2 at the annual charity match. This is the first win for Red Industries and all members of the team, including manager Trevor Wilson and Mark Frost, deserve congratulations. The match was an event dedicated to raising funds for our Company Charity The Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust. This years event was a great success with plenty of funds raised, gifts won and the first Red Industries FC win!!!
After nearly 8 months of training, CEO Adam Share and Project Co-Ordinator Darren Haywood have completed their 2013 Half Ironman Challenge. They managed to raise a staggering £4,000.00 between the two of them for The Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust. The Beaver challenge at Belvoir Castle is made up of a 22K run, a 1.9K swim and finally a 75K bike ride, this is a gruelling challenge and just managing to complete it is an achievement. Adam finished the event in 5hrs and 33mins whilst Darren came in at 5hrs 41mins, this was an amazing achievement that they should both be really proud of.
