The community around a landfill site benefits from funding for local community and environmental projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.  Projects within a 3 mile radius of RED's licensed landfill (Silverdale, Newcastle-under-Lyme, ST5 6SB) or treatment and transfer station (Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, ST6 2DZ), could be eligible for funding through the Landfill Communities Fund. New aerosol can de-packaging unit at Sneyd Hill Transfer and Treatment Centre

Red Industries has operated at Sneyd Hill Transfer and Treatment Centre, Burslem site since 2006 and today we have successfully received planning permission to install a new aerosol can de-packaging unit at site. We have taken the decision to voluntarily curtail landfill operations at Walleys Quarry with effect from Saturday March 13th 2021.  This will enable us to accelerate the programme of extensive capping work planned for the facility, along with other infrastructural developments.   Soil, clays, filter cakes and engineering materials will continue to be brought to site to support the ongoing works.
