As reported in the August 2015’s issue of the CIWM journal, Resource minister Rory Stewart launched a review last month into the effects of current regulation & enforcement on growth and innovation within the UK waste sector.
The review and its focus on regulatory and enforcement barriers to growth, is part of the governments cutting red tape programme and its purpose is to try and save British businesses approximately £10 billion. The review calls for evidence from the industry as to the effects of current regulation and enforcement on everything from waste production and processing through to collection, disposal and treatment.
Rory Stewart MP has stated that this review is about giving those who work in the industry a voice, allowing them to have a say on the regulations that affect them and creating a more efficient and productive waste industry.
For anyone working in the industry who would like to leave their comments regarding the review you can do so here (comments no longer being accepted – updated 2016).
