New improvements for fire suppression system at our waste facility.

Ensuring the safety of our employees and the future of our business is of upmost importance, which is why we have taken measures to further improve the safety features at our processing facility.  We have invested over £35,000 in upgrading the fire suppression system at our waste Treatment and Transfer station in Stoke-on-Trent.

Even with strict processing and safety procedures in place, there is always the risk of a potential fire at a waste processing facility. Reducing the risks from a fire through an effective fire suppression system is vital.  We are committed to continued improvement in our business and facilities – after review of our existing fire protection equipment, the decision was made to invest in a new system.

The new equipment provides both fire suppression and cooling of heated surfaces, whilst blanketing the fuel and cutting off oxygen to prevent reflash. Over 30 sprinkler nozzles are situated down the length of the conveyor belts to target the source directly and stop a fire from spreading. The nozzles are staggered at intervals along the conveyor belts to provide complete coverage should the system be activated. The wet chemical agent is delivered quickly from three tanks, and is designed to flow readily into hard-to-reach areas.  The fire suppression system is designed to extinguish a fire before it takes hold and spreads.

We are committed to safeguarding the future of our business and the safety of our employees. We hope never to have to use the system, but having it in place is extra peace of mind and security for the business and for our employees.

Thank you to Ardent for their hard work with the design and installation of the system.
