Last weekend marked an exhilarating journey for Adrian Spencer and the RED Industries/Adgespeed team as they tackled the challenging terrain of the Isle of Man in the 2024 Protyre National Asphalt Rally Championship during the Manx Rally.
Covering 130 miles of special stages over two intense days,each leg proved to be a formidable test of skill and endurance. With warm weather and dry tarmac setting the stage for a fast-paced event, the team knew they were in for an exciting ride.
Adrian, supported by co-driver Ashley Trimble, embarked on the rally with high spirits, starting at car 49 out of 150 contenders. Their primary goal was to secure valuable points for the championship by completing both days of the rally.
The first day presented its challenges, with four morning stages leaving Adrian feeling unsettled with the car's handling, resulting in a drop to 58th overall. However, after regrouping and implementing setup adjustments during the midday break, the team embarked on an evening loop of five stages with renewed determination. Despite two stages being cancelled,they finished the day on a high note, climbing to an impressive 37th overall.
Day two brought a fresh set of challenges, with three stagestotaling 33 miles followed by a service halt and a repeat of the same stages. With confidence growing in the car and conditions remaining consistent, Adrian and Ashley pushed their limits, ultimately securing a remarkable 27th overall finish and fourth in their class.
The team's outstanding performance at the Manx Rally is a testament to their resilience, skill, and unwavering determination. With only a few days to prepare for the next round of the championship, the Jim Clark Rally, the team remains focused and ready to tackle whatever challenges lie ahead.
